Benoit, now 45, has dedicated his life to the art of Photography since the age of 14. Practicing his passion, he has worked alternately as a photographer, digital technology guru, professor and journalist in many imaging related areas. In 1987, he graduated from Louis Lumiere, the National French Photography College in Paris. Then, he joined ILFORD Ltd, the world-leading manufacturer of black and white photographic paper as its European Technical Director. There, he worked helping leading photo artists on technical issues, gaining insights on their methods and approaches. As soon as 1992, he pioneered the emerging technology related to digital photography working on the first generation of photography capable inkjet printers and software. In 1995, Benoit led the creation of Renoir, a new French National Photography College located in Paris whose program was focused on digital imaging. As a writer and journalist, Benoit has published 200+ technical articles in French photography and technology related magazines. He has established a strong reputation as perfecting the usage of new technologies to enhance photographic quality and realism.
On top of his artistic activity as landscape photograph, Benoit's main focus has been energy and the environment, with a focus on behavioral conservation and adoption of energy saving new technologies. As a returning student in the U.S, Benoit graduated in 2008 from U.C Berkeley with a double BA in Mass Communication and Sociology and a minor from the famous U.C Berkeley Energy and Resources department (ERG). Benoit graduated in 2011 from San Jose State University, with a MS in environmental science. Benoit's thesis (available here on Amazon.com) is focused on the environmental impacts of the photo processing industry in the Bay Area, near San Francisco, California. Benoit is currently living in Hillsborough, California, with his family, Andre - his partner - and their 5 years old twins, Laurice and Alexandre.
